Use An Exit Intent Popup On Your Squeeze Page

Did you know that the average conversion rate can be anywhere from 0.5% to 10%? This means that for every 100 people who visit your squeeze page, less than 10 will actually opt-in to your list. And a whopping 90 will leave, most never to return again. Every person who leaves your opt-in page without joining your list is a lost opportunity for future revenue as you will not be able to promote your products to them.

PLEASE NOTE: Conversion rates do depend on many factors including what you are offering as an ethical bribe, your text, headline, button text, how targeted your offer is to your chosen niche, etc.

While all of these elements need to be tested and improved on, one of the best ways of increasing your conversion rate is by using an exit intent pop-up on your squeeze page. Studies have shown that using this type of pop-up can actually increase your opt-in rate by 500% or more.

But have you ever wondered what an exit intent pop up is?

When someone visits your website or your blog, their mouse becomes active. If they decide they are not interested in what you are offering, they will click on the X button in order to leave your site. However, with an exit intent pop-up, once your visitors' cursors moves off the body of your site, the exit intent pop-up is triggered. You then have one last chance to capture their names and email addresses.

Your exit intent pop-up can include different types of messages including:

• A different ethical bribe - If you are using this strategy, the new ethical bribe should expand on the original one offered on your site. It should be perceived as much more valuable than the original ethical bribe.

• A survey - You could ask why your visitor decided not to exchange their name and email address for your ethical bribe. Again, offer them something very valuable so that they do give you their data. Use this feedback to improve your ethical bribe and/or squeeze page components.

If you use radio buttons for the survey, your visitor should be redirected to another ethical bribe depending on the answer they chose. For example, if your niche is traffic generation, you could ask if they were interested in PPC, using social media for traffic, wanting to learn more about organic traffic generation methods, etc.

• An opt-in form for your newsletter - You want to capture your visitors' names and email addresses. So while they may not be interested in your ethical bribe, they may be willing to join your newsletter list for more information about your chosen niche.

The message you use in your exit intent pop-up has to grab your visitors' attention, but it also has to be targeted towards your niche. While exit intent pop-ups can identify visitors that are about to leave your site, your message must recapture their attention.
